  • Limit your time outside. If you need to go outside, wear layers of warm clothing. Watch for signs of hypothermia.
  • Hypothermia is an unusually low body temperature. A temperature below 95 degrees is an emergency.
Actions:
  • Go to a warm room
  • Warm the center of the body first--chest, neck, head and groin
  • Keep dry and wrapped up in warm blankets, including the head and neck.

Minimum Wind Chill Friday Morning

Afternoon forecasts from the National Weather Service in Louisville are projecting wind chills values in the negative-20s for south central Kentucky once the cold front moves in.

Expect dangerously cold conditions tonight into Friday. Very windy conditions are expected Friday, with wind gusts of 40-45 mph. Wind chills will remain near or below zero into Sunday, and temperatures are not projected to be above freezing until Tuesday of next week.

Stores busy ahead of winter weather

Storm preparations are underway. Aisles are crowded at Columbias Walmart and reports are that there was a line out the door at Kroger in one of the next door counties.
