Emergency Management The National Weather Service in Louisville offers these tips for the extreme cold weather on the way tonight and this weekend: - Limit your time outside. If you need to go outside, wear layers of warm clothing. Watch for signs of hypothermia.
- Hypothermia is an unusually low body temperature. A temperature below 95 degrees is an emergency.
Actions: - Go to a warm room
- Warm the center of the body first--chest, neck, head and groin
- Keep dry and wrapped up in warm blankets, including the head and neck.

Afternoon forecasts from the National Weather Service in Louisville are projecting wind chills values in the negative-20s for south central Kentucky once the cold front moves in.
Expect dangerously cold conditions tonight into Friday. Very windy conditions are expected Friday, with wind gusts of 40-45 mph.
