JR Thompson, FBLA adviser, cheering his students

Adair County FBLA, under the direction of JR Thompson, and 47 ACHS students represented the district at the 2023 State Convention in Louisville.

Several students who won state awards will advance to represent Adair County and Kentucky at the National FBLA Convention this June in Atlanta, Georgia (pending Board of Education Approval).

Adair County High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) brought home 1st place for the "Largest Chapter Growth" in state competition at the convention last week, along with several individual winners. Director JR Thompson writes, "Everywhere we went, I heard, 'your students are the most respectful students we've ever served!' Good job to Adair County for raising the BEST future leaders...we have so much to be proud of here in AC!" FBLA photo taken looking out over the Ohio River from downtown Louisville.

Birds of Kentucky: Limpkin

The bird paparazzi are turning out in Shelbyville this week to catch a glimpse of this Limpkin. While Limpkins are common along US coastal waters, they are not frequently reported in Kentucky. All About Birds says of this gangly, brown-and-white bird, "This bird's haunting cries, heard mostly at night, are otherworldly and unforgettable."
