Adair commuting patterns from EDA

2023-08-08 - Columbia, KY
The reason the Columbia Adair County Economic Development Authority (EDA) continues to push for improved job recruitment is evidenced in the numbers of people who leave each day to earn their living shown in this chart. EDA board members want more people to be able to earn a living at home. This 2018 chart shows that approximately four thousand go out from Adair County each day while only half that number come into Adair from other counties for work. This chart has also been studied lately in context of the payroll tax discussion by Fiscal Court. Those going out pay a payroll tax to the other counties while those coming into Adair have not been asked to pay a payroll tax.
