Flowers and Theater thoughts around the Public Square

Zinnias may be my favorite of all the flowers that have graced the Public Square in Columbia this season. They are staying colorful and strong as fall gets started. This view takes in the Columbian Theater sign reminding us the planned opening of the restored building - it has been placed on hold by the Adair School District. We hope to hear some positive news soon. - LW Comments | Permalink Columbia Police Chief Jr Murphy retiring

Congratulations has been the word this week for CPD Chief Jr Murphy who announced he will be retiring after over two decades of service to law enforcement. He was hired by former Mayor Curtis Hardwick and started work under former CPD Chief Mark Harris. We wish him and his family all the best! Comments | Permalink Progress being made on Russell building

Dave and Tina Thomas took the bold step to believe in their dreams and take on ownership of the Russell building on the Public Square in Columbia. Roof work has been done. Windows are being uncovered and decorative stones have been placed on the front entry. Tina says she takes part of her inspiration from the success Stanford, KY is having on their historic downtown. They will be continuing work and will keep us posted. Comments | Permalink Older Photos
