Today's weather change was announced loudly by hail on the metal porch roof. When I looked out it was into this donut hole in the sky over Columbia. For a few moments around 4pm we got green pea size hail, then it turned to rain. Comments | Permalink

Downtown Asheville, North Carolina, at sunrise. The taller building at left is The Jackson Building. Completed in 1925, it was notable as the first skyscraper in western North Carolina. The blue building at right is the 19-story Kimpton Hotel Arras. Built in 1965, it is currently Asheville's tallest building. Comments | Permalink
