Dakota Boaz plays a King Mandolin

LWC junior Dakota Boaz from Leitchfield, Kentucky, plays one of the mandolins made by Roger King from Louisville on Monday. Attendees received a hands-on demonstration on how to play mandolins, dulcimers, a lap steel guitar, a zither, and a bouzouki, all made by King.

David Goguen tries out a dulcimer

LWC Associate Professor of Journalism David Goguen takes a turn on one of the dulcimers made by Roger King from Louisville on Monday. King handcrafts string instruments from redwood, maple, walnut, mahogany, African cherry, Adirondack spruce and Alaskan red spruce. The exhibit will be on display in the W.W. Slider Humanities Center until the end of the spring semester.

Louisville instrument designer and artist Roger King visits with LWC freshman Rebekah Stevenson, middle, from Russell Springs, Kentucky, and junior Amber Loy from Columbia, Kentucky. King shared his collection of handcrafted wooden instruments in an exhibit at LWC on Monday evening.
