A short hop from the Cumberland River sits a small Kentucky town with a quaint downtown populated by historic architecture, a couple of modern government buildings, a smattering of stores, dentist and lawyer's offices, all overlooked by a college campus on a hill. This downtown has an Art Deco theater in an arrested state of renovation.
Pictured is the entrance to the Lane Theater, in downtown Williamsburg, Kentucky. When I passed it on a recent walk, I saw echoes to the Columbian Theater. The Lane opened in 1948, and was a hub of social and cultural activity for 68 years before its closure in 1987. Comments | Permalink

Early morning on Hwy 704 south of Columbia

Adair County Sheriff Josh Brockman reported that Ky 704 had to be closed as a result of this dump truck overturning on the roadway Tuesday morning. Ky 768 to Ky 55 south was used as alternative route. Drive with caution. Comments | Permalink
