A closer look at one of the turrets at Enisala, from Veronica's day trip there while in Romania. The fortress dates to the late 13th or early 14th century, and was built to control travel routes passing through the region. According to Wikipedia, "The fortress' three hexagonal towers are the only ones of this type found in the whole region of Dobruja."

The fortress has been around since the bronze age and irons periods. Beautiful old castle that had designs similar to those of the Normans in western Europe. The fortress is on the high hill that is surrounded by the countryside and and a series of lakes and canals."
