Back in the 1800s when agriculture was the mainstay getting into the fair only cost 35 cents. Since then, agricultural meets, horse shows and general fairs became a special interest of agricultural Kentucky. They began in the Bluegrass and spread across the state. To foster diversification and to bring new breeds and varieties into common use, agricultural fairs were promoted in the state as early as the 1830s. Comments | Permalink
