ACHS Indians win over Monroe County 36-30

Adair County High School football defeated Monroe County 36-30 in a last minute thriller Friday night. The Indians came out in impressive fashion and built up a 20-6 halftime lead, but the Falcons would not go away easily and stormed back.

Giles Helm with maker of his favorite sausage

Giles Helm, 6th grader at Russell County Middle School, is pictured with Allen Purnell at the famous Shelby County business, Purnell's Old Folks Sausage. Giles is the son of Derrick and Terran Cross Helm of Jamestown who believe Giles is truly the biggest consumer and fan of Old Folks Country Sausage because it is one of his top every day, only-that-brand-will-do, foods. The invitation to visit the plant was a day the family will always remember.

Difficult time for fellow law enforcement officials

In addition to family members, it was a very hard weekend for law enforcement in Russell and Adair Counties. Adair County Sheriff Josh Brockman, left, and Columbia Police Chief Evan Burton, at right, returned to their vehicles after leading teams directing long lines of vehicles through downtown Columbia around services for Deputy Josh Phipps who was killed in the line of duty in Russell Springs last week.
