Christa Montgomery Gimbel, whose father was a native of the Joppa community of Adair County, poses beside the Shiloh Christian Church and Cemetery historical marker.
The plaque reads: Shiloh Christian Church is a testament to the deep religious beliefs of those who founded it. The church's first building was wooden, erected in 1875, and rebuilt with brick in 1952. Thomas B. Johnson donated the land originally, the Montgomery's donated the wood, and Jasper Bryant provided the carpentry. Quintellian "Kint" Montgomery built the first pulpit.
Richmond B. Reeves led the rebuilding of the church after it burned. Many amenities have been added since. Nearby Clear Springs School opened in 1911 and closed in 1953. It shared some of the church's facilities and burned in 2023.
