KSP introduces state-of-the-art patrol boat

The Metal Shark 23 Relentless watercraft is a fully equipped law enforcement vehicle, built to withstand extreme weather conditions with the same tools found in a state police cruiser, including radio, lights and a mobile data terminal, while also utilizing a FLIR Thermal camera and side-scan sonar camera for search operations. The boat can be deployed during any major critical incident involving water when assistance from the KSP Special Operations Branch is requested, including the Special Response Team and the Aircraft Division.

Travel: Puffins share in raising their babies

Writer/Photographer April Shepperd writes, "Mom and Dad Puffins share parental responsibilities and take turns incubating a single egg. Once their chick hatches, the parents dive up to 60 meters several times a day, emerging with a beak full of fish, eel, herring, and other sea creatures to feed the little one. By late August, the Puffins have gone and will remain at sea until the next year.

New financial program developed for AC Tourism Commission

Heather Spoon, at left, advisor to the Adair County Economic Development Authority, made time to share her expertise in programming with the Tourism Commission to create a custom program that will track Tourism income and expenses. Paige Nickel, Tourism Director, is pictured with her as it was presented at the August meeting.
