2024-04-24 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com Darlene Franklin Campbell grew up in wooded areas of Southern Adair County, Kentucky, living in the Gradyville, Flatwoods and Milltown communities. She graduated from Sparksville Grade Center and Adair County High School then received an Art Scholarship to Lindsey Wilson College where she earned her B.A. and M.A. in education. Her writing and art have appeared in multiple publications, both online and traditional. She has attended the Appalachian Writers Conference, WisCon and the Arrowmont School of Arts. In 2010, she won the Reader's Choice Award in young adult fiction from the Predators and Editors organization. In 2012, she won the Mary Ballard Poetry award for her work, Uncommon Clay. She has received multiple awards for her art and writing. Proceeds from the sales of her work have gone to fight mountaintop removal and to assist in finding cures for cancer. Her introduction by Darlene Campbell follows: Samantha is the author of ten currently published titles on Amazon. "God is the true author," is something you will commonly hear Samantha say. She knows without her savior, none of this would be possible. Samantha was raised in Adair and Russell Counties. She loves her family and friends, and is a dog Momma. Samantha also loves to sing, and has recorded several CD's. She has always loved books. In 2019 she released Emergency Romance book one in The God's Silver Lining Book Series. Five more books in that series followed. A Glimmer Of Hope is stand alone. The Prayer Closet Devotional series is the first time Samantha has written outside Christian Fiction. There are three published devotional titles with more to come. The Call For Emily, a Christian Fiction Suspense, is her first through a traditional publisher and audio company and should be released in early summer.
