Chad Grifton Gilbert, 42, Adair County, KY (1976-2018)

He was of Christian faith, a maintenance worker for Sandusky Pallets, and also worked with his best friend and brother, Chris Burriss. He was preceded in death by his father, Grifton "Gis" Gilbert, paternal grandparents, Lefus "Cat" and Lillie Mae (Ooten) Gilbert, maternal grandparents, James Howard and Katherine (Carter) Smith, and a special uncle, Boney Gilbert.

Chad Grifton Gilbert of Columbia, KY, formerly of Burkesville, KY, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at T. J. Health Columbia in Columbia, having attained the age of 42 years, 7 months, and 15 days.

The Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 2pmCT in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY with Bro. Gary Cash officiating. Memories and reflections will be shared by Damian Scott. The family will receive friends after 1pmCT on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 until the funeral hour.



Chad Grifton Gilbert, 42, Adair County, KY (1976-2018)

He was born in Albany, Kentucky on Saturday, January 24, 1976, the son of Grifton "Gis" and Gay (Smith) Gilbert.

He was of Christian faith, a maintenance worker for Sandusky Pallets, and also worked with his best friend and brother, Chris Burriss. He was preceded in death by his father, Grifton "Gis" Gilbert, paternal grandparents, Lefus "Cat" and Lillie Mae (Ooten) Gilbert, maternal grandparents, James Howard and Katherine (Carter) Smith, and a special uncle, Boney Gilbert.

He is survived by
  • His mother, Gay Smith Gilbert of Burkesville

  • His wife, Jessica Renee Burgess Gilbert of Columbia whom he wed Saturday, February 5, 2011

  • His daughter, Autumn Renee Gilbert of Columbia

  • His siblings, Jamie (and Leslie) Riddle, Summer (and Casey) Scott, both of Burkesville

  • His best friend and brother, Chris Burriss of Greensburg

  • His nieces and nephews, Lakota "Kota" Scott, Damian Scott, Jeremy Burgess, Jacob Thaxton, Kaitlin Burgess, Ivory Durham, Isabell Durham, and Ilana Durham
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Norris-New Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Norris-New Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements. Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
