Vicky Pike - Can't wait to see new Magic Market open On Columbia's gas price changes: I'm all for people making a profit on what they sell. After all this is the USA; but do it in a fair way. - VICKY PIKE Comments re article 98698 Joe Barbee Gas prices based on 1st rule of economics Click on headline for complete personal commentary By Victoria Browning Pike Personal commentary I for one will be thrilled to see the new Magic Market open. I hope this will bring real competition to the gasoline market in Adair County. I don't understand the need to lower gas to $2.59 and then a few days later raise them to $2.79. I can understand a few pennies but 20 cents - and I have seen a few times 30 cents. Any business has to make a profit to stay open, but I feel these large hikes in one day seem a bit too much. Each station has the right to decide what they are going to charge for their gasoline. My problem is most all stations adjust their price within a couple of hours to match the other stations. I don't think they all run out of gas at the same time. Most times we can drive a few miles in any direction and the price of a gallon of gas is considerably lower. I'm all for people making a profit on what they sell. After all this is the USA; but do it in a fair way. It just looks bad when everybody in the gasoline market raises their prices within a few minutes of each other. I thank all those who have chosen to invest their money in Adair County. I can't remember in my lifetime this amount of development in our county of old and new businesses that are willing to put their money to work to better our community. - Victoria Pike This story was posted on 2018-07-30 16:36:53
