Johnnie Ballenger, 93, Russell County, KY (1924-2018)

He was a member of a respected Russell County, KY, family. He was the son of the late Mary Jane (Lawless) & Cellie Ballenger, and the widower of Marie Foley Ballenger. He leaves 10 direct living descendants. He was a native of Jamestown, KY, and a resident of Russell Springs, KY, at the time of his death. His final resting place will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery

Johnnie Ballenger, 93, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Funeral Services for Johnnie Ballenger will be at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY, at 2pmCT, Sunday July 1, 2018, with Bro. Bodie Emerson officiating. Friends may visit after 12pmNoonCT, on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6614 Danville Road, Nicholasville, KY, at 12:30pmCT/1:30pmET, Monday, July 2, 2018.

He is survived by:
  • Two daughters: Linda (David) Herriford; and Marlene (Edward) McClure both of Lexington, KY

  • Two sisters Alene Pennington, of Dayton, Ohio, and Pauletta Stoyall. of Shepherdsville, KY

  • One brother: Gary Ballenger, of Columbia, KY

  • Four grandchildren

  • Three great grandchildren
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie Foley Ballenger, one sister Betty Lou Stearns, and four brothers, Glen, Leonard, Leland and Lindsey Earl Ballenger.
