Sonia Jan Anderson, 80, Metcalfe Co., KY/Carter Co., TN native

February 11, 1938 ~ May 24, 2018 (Age 80)

She was a homemaker, member of the Edmonton Methodist Church, retired beautician, business owner, member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary and Edmonton Eastern Star. She was a native of Roan Mountain, TN, and a resident of Edmonton, KY, at the time of her death. She was the matriarch of a large, respected family, the daughter of the late W.J. & Dora Hopson Gilbert. Her husband, Douglas Anderson, survives. She leaves 16 direct living descendants.

Sonia Janet (Jan) Anderson age 80 of Edmonton, KY, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

Visitation for Jan will be held 3pm-8pmCT, Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with cremation to follow.

Born Friday, February 11, 1938, in Roan Mountain, Carter County, TN, she was the daughter of the late W.J. and Dora Hopson Gilbert. She died Thursday, May 24, 2018, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 80 years, three months, and 13 days.

Jan was a homemaker, member of the Edmonton Methodist Church, retired beautician, business owner, member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary and Edmonton Eastern Star.

She is survived by:
  • Her husband: Douglas Anderson of Edmonton, KY

  • One daughter: Dawn Renata (Mark) Blaskovich of Hammond, IN

  • Three sons: Doug Anderson of Highland, IN; Erik (Diane) Anderson of Morocco, IN; and Sean (Christie) Anderson of Edmonton, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren: Sonny Blaskovich, Mitch Blaskovich, Taylor Anderson, Jesse Anderson, Keagan Anderson all of Indiana; Jessica Bieker of Kansas; Brendan Anderson, Nick Anderson, David Darnell all of Indiana; Konnor Anderson, Kelsea Anderson, Adam Decker, Elizabeth Decker and William Decker all of Edmonton, KY

  • One great grandchild: Karoline Anderson

  • One brother: Roby Lee Hopson of Roan Mountain, TN

  • Two sisters: Dixie (Morton) Holt of Ormond Beach, FL; and Linda Gerhring of Pennsylvania
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Sidney Gilbert. Send condolences to the family of Sonia Janet Anderson
