Raymond Rooks, 74, Adair Co., KY native (1944-2018)

He was born in Adair County, KY, and his final resting place will be here. He was retired from David R. Webb in Edinburgh, IN where he worked in the maintenance department. He was the son of the late Delmer and Flossie Burton Rooks. He leaves a host of relatives, both in the Edinburg area of Indiana and in Adair County, KY, including two sons, Mitchell and Mark Rooks and two daughters Sharon Hamlett and Anissia Russell, of Columbia, KY.

Raymond Rooks, 74 of Flat Rock, IN, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at Heritage House of Shelbyville, Shelbyville, IN.

A funeral service will be conducted at 6:30pmCT/7:30pmET on Thursday, May 17, 2018 by Reverend Terry England at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 East Main Cross Street, Edinburgh, IN. Calling will be from 4pmCT, until time of service. A graveside service will be conducted at 11amCT/12pmNoonCT, Friday, May 18, 2018, at Adkins Cemetery, 2295 Sulphur Creek Road, Columbia, KY.

He was born January 3, 1944 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of Delmer and Flossie (Burton) Rooks. He died Monday, May 14, 2018 in Shelbyville, Shelby County, IN, at the age of 74 years, three months, and 11 days.

He is survived by:
  • His seven sons: Leroy Black of Columbus, IN; Billy (Christina) Black of Seymour, IN; Dewayne Rooks of Columbus, IN; Mike (Velma) Rooks of Columbia, KY; Mitchell (Bernice) Rooks of Columbia, KY; Mark Rooks of Columbia, KY; and Mickey (Dinah) Rooks of Columbia, KY

  • His two daughters: Sharon (Richard) Hamlet of Columbia, KY; and Anissia Russell of Columbia, KY

  • His companion, Elva Jackson of Flat Rock, IN

  • Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren

  • Brothers: Leonard (Brenda) Rooks of Edinburgh, IN; Gary (Leanna) Rooks of Edinburgh, IN; and Dewey Ray (Sue) Rooks of Columbia, KY

  • Sister: Alice Ruth McFarland of Columbia, KY
He was preceded in death by his parents.

He retired from David R. Webb in Edinburgh, IN where he worked in the maintenance department.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 East Main Cross Street, Edinburgh, IN, 46124.
