She was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of Cumberland Co., KY, at the time of her death in Albany, KY. She leaves 23 direct living descendants.

Evelyn Thomas Orton, age 82, widow of Charlie Orton, passed away April 16, 2018 at the Medical Center at Albany, KY.

Funeral service will be at Friday, April 20, 2018 at 1pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Irish Bottom Cemetery. The family requests visitation 5pm-9pmCT, on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.



Evelyn Thomas Orton, 82, Cumberland Co., KY (1935-2018)


She was born in Cumberland County, KY on May 26, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Robert Bazil and Nannie Belle Davis Thomas. She died Monday, April 16, 2018, in Albany, Clinton County, KY, at the age of 82 years, 10 months, and 21 days.

She was a member of Irish Bottom Christian Church. A resident of the Irish Bottom community of Cumberland County, Evelyn was an avid gardener and enjoyed caring for those she loved.

In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers, James Thomas, John Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Billy Joe Thomas; her sisters, Geneva Ruff, Bonnie Melton, and Ava Appleby; and one great-grandchild Khaleesi Orton.

Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Diane Patton and her husband Bill of Berea, KY

  • Two sons: Charles Orton and his wife Brenda Kay, and David Orton and his wife Brenda Lee all of Albany, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Allison (Keith) Harrison, Kristin (Don) Breeden, Ocie (Ricky) Marcum, Anthony (Crystal) Orton, Matthew (Ellyce) Patton, and John (Heather) Orton

  • Fourteen great grandchildren: Hallie Harrison, Brooke Harrison, Logan Breeden, McKenzie Breeden, Ethan Breeden, Christian Marcum, Caleb Marcum, Calin Marcum, Makenzie Orton, Charlie Patton, Jaxon Orton, Tessa Orton, Braylee Orton, and Eli Orton

  • One sister: Nancy Murphy of Burkesville, KY

  • Brothers-in-law- Glen (Joann) Orton of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Bobby (Margaret) Orton of Lexington, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
