Thiery family's 5K run/walk at LWC will help fund scholarship From the family's crushing grief comes a goal to honor Douglas Thiery with a scholarship to LWC that will continue helping people into the future, honoring the man he was, a man who stopped whatever was going on to help his family and others, no matter what, no matter when. The event is Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 10amCT at the Lindsey Wilson College Holloway health and wellness center, 299 Williams Street, Columbia, KY. Click on headline for complete story By Linda Waggener If you know Columbia's 30-year nurse practitioner Diane Thiery, then you've probably heard her speak of her "loving, deep hearted husband, Doug." If you went to ACHS or Lindsey Wilson with one of her children - Fran, Dorina, Douglas, or Adriane, or her stepson Kenny, then you probably heard of their father, their life guide, their rock solid supporter. That's who they've lost as a result of a car accident followed by a coma from which he never recovered. Their beloved Douglas Arnold Thiery died October 23, 2017. And from their crushing grief comes a goal to honor him with a scholarship to LWC that will continue helping people into the future, honoring the man he was, a man who stopped whatever was going on to help his family, no matter what, no matter when. They will tell you he is the reason they are who and where they are today. Children and careers, expanded family - education for every one of them How to help them honor him? Daughter Dorina Green says, "Stand strong with us as we rise above tragedy for a cause in memory of our father in a Scholarship Run/Walk Fundraiser." Proceeds from the run will be used to add to a scholarship fund to be awarded to Lindsey Wilson College public service majors to aid in the fight against child abuse. The event is Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 10amCT at the Lindsey Wilson College Holloway health and wellness center, 299 Williams Street, Columbia, KY. The 5K 1 mile walk or run cost is $20 for 5K participants and $10 for 1 mile participants. Registration begins at 8amCT. Prizes will be given for winners. For these details and more information, contact Dorina Green 270-404-0370 or Diane Thiery 270-250-4940. This story was posted on 2018-04-09 08:21:36
