Louise Long, 83, formerly of Adair County, KY (1934-2018)

Louise was retired machine operator for Fruit of the Loom, and attended several area churches. She was born May 31, 1934 in the Garlin Community of Adair County, KY the daughter of Frank and Edith Ann Neat Rigney of Adair County.

Louise Long, 83, Jamestown, KY formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 9:14amCT at the Russell County Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday February 28, 2018 at 4pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating Bro. Steve Martin. Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation after 9:30amCT Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Todd Akin, Colton Nunn, Shane Grant, Shad Grant, Kenny Long, Anthony Karnes, Tommy Scearce.

She was born May 31, 1934 in the Garlin Community of Adair County, KY the daughter of Frank and Edith Ann Neat Rigney of Adair County. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son; Billy Long and by one infant son Kenneth Long in 1958 siblings J.W. Rigney, Pauline Scearce and Gay Farris.

Survived by
  • Two daughters: Phyllis Grant of Jamestown, KY; and Jeanette Applegate of Thornton, Colorado

  • Two brothers; Irvin (Josephine) Rigney and Frank Rigney Jr. both of Louisville, KY

  • One sister; Betty Akin of Columbia, KY

  • Nine grandchildren, Kenny Long, Shane Grant, Shad(Shauna) Grant, Shanna(Anthony) Darnell, Shalonda Bennett, Tonya(Joe) Reynolds, Jacob Applegate, Joshua Applegate, Nathan Long.

  • 22 Great Grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Louise was a retired machine operator for Fruit of the Loom, and attended several area churches.
