Alice Osborne, 93, Adair County, KY native (1924-2018)

She was, above all, a woman devoted to her faith and her family. She loved serving others and sharing her kind spirit with so many friends and family. "Mamy" will be missed and loved. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Columbia Christian Church for many years. For the last several years, she was a member of the First Christian Church of Elizabethtown and taught Sunday school.

Alice Elizabeth Smith Osborne, 93 years of Elizabethtown, KY, formerly of Columbia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday afternoon, February 21, 2018 in Elizabethtown after several months illness.

Funeral service: Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Officiating will be Bro. Raymond Martin, Elizabeth Paynter and Heather Curry Paynter. The family requests visiting from 4pmCT until 8pmCT Friday, February 23, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Columbia Cemetery.



Alice Elizabeth Smith Osborne, 93, Adair County, KY native (1924-2018)

She was a native of Adair County born April 26, 1924 and lived there until 1985. Since then she has made Elizabethtown her home. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Columbia Christian Church for many years. For the last several years, she was a member of the First Christian Church of Elizabethtown and taught Sunday school.

She was, above all, a woman devoted to her faith and her family. She loved serving others and sharing her kind spirit with so many friends and family. "Mamy" will be missed and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Hardin and Emma Hood Smith, her husband Charles Osborne. One infant sister Virginia, a brother Garlin (Gladys) Smith, and a sister Mildred (Claudus) Moore.

She is survived by
  • One daughter: Wilma Jean Osborne Curry, son-in-law Jim Curry of Elizabethtown, KY

  • One granddaughter: Heather (Matthew) Paynter, one great-granddaughter; Ellie Paynter

  • A great-grandson Charlie Paynter

  • A niece Patricia (Lonnie) Armstrong, and a nephew Roger (Donna) Smith
