Harold Thomas Coomer, 74, Russell Co./Adair Co., KY native (1943-2018)

He was a Barber in Russell County for 50 years, and a Separate Baptist Minister. He was member of Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church in Jamestown, KY, and a member of a leading South Central Kentucky family. He was the son of the late Azro & Christine Munday Coomer, and spent his early years in Columbia, KY. He was a 1963 graduate of Adair County High School. He spent his adult life in Russell County, KY, home of his wife Patricia McFall Coomer, who survives. He leaves a large family to carry on his legacy including 12 direct living descendants. He leaves a brother, Willard Coomer, and sister, Marilyn Brown, of Columbia, KY. He enjoyed playing the guitar and piano with quartets and at his church.

Harold Thomas Coomer, 74, of Russell Springs, KY, formerly Adair County, passed away Thursday January 25, 2018 at 7:35pmCT, at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, after an illness.

Funeral service will be Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 2pmCT, at Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church, Russell County. Clergy officiating will be Bro. Randy Brown and Bro. David Coffey. Interment in Rexroat Cemetery in Jamestown, KY. Visitation after 3:30pmCT, Saturday, January 27, 2018, until 8pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will start after 11amCT, Sunday, until funeral hour at Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church in Russell County.

He was born on June 16, 1943 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Azro & Christine Munday Coomer. She died Thursday, January 25, 2018, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 74 years, seven months, and nine days.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia McFall Coomer, of Russell Springs, KY, and the following:
  • Three daughters: Sherri (Ricky) Barnes of Russell Springs, KY; Renae (David) Turner of Russell Springs, KY; and Jill (Dr. Rob) Bertram of Jamestown, KY

  • One brother: Willard Coomer & (late wife Sharon Coomer) of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Marilyn (Junior) Brown of Columbia, KY

  • Mother-in-law: Evelyn McFall of Jamestown, KY

  • Nine grandchildren: Trevor Barnes, Nick (Chandra) Barnes, Kaitlyn Barnes, Alex Turner, J. R. (Beth) Bertram, Benjamin Bertram, Henry Bertram, Jenna White, & Lauren White

  • Several nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives & friends
