Science, engineering, math taught with marshmallows By Calen McKinney Campbellsville Elementary School (CES) students in the accompanying photos were given concepts in science, technology, engineering and math through the use of simple tools -- toothpicks and marshmallows. First-graders in Luci Shofner’s and Miriah Cox’s classes were each given several toothpicks and a batch of marshmallows and taught to build structures with them.
