Dallas Ray Holt, 71, Montpelier, Adair County, KY (1946-2018)

He had professed faith in Christ. He was a construction worker, a Veteran of the Vietnam Era serving his county in the United States Army, a member of the local VFW Post 6097, American Legion, DAV, NRA, and was an avid hunter who enjoyed his beagles. He was a member of an outstanding Adair County, KY, family, the son of the Jess Thomas & Lyda McGaha Holt. His wife, Dorothy Mann Holt, survives. He leaves six direct living descendants.

Dallas Ray Holt, 71, Adair County, KY (1946-2018) Dallas Ray Holt, 71 of the Montpelier Community of Adair Co. passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 12:29amET. at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY, after several weeks illness.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Stanley Watson the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY, with full military honors presented by the local VFW Post 6097. Visitation after 4:30pmCT, Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Jerry Burbridge, Kenny Redmon, Billy Stearns, Matt Keltner, Chad Curry and Tommy Wheeler.

He was born on March 26, 1946 in the Montpelier community. He was the son of the late Jess Thomas & Lyda McGaha Holt. He died Sunday, January 7, 2018, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 71 years, six months, and 12 days.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Holt and an infant Sarah Montress Holt; two grandchildren, Justin Garrett Owens & Olivia Grace Owens. He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Mann Holt of Columbia, KY and the following:
  • Two daughters: Angela Chambers of Mesquite, NV; and Yolanda Raye Owens of Columbia, KY

  • Three brothers: C. J. Holt of Columbia, KY; Ronnie Holt of Columbia, KY; and James Holt of Dry Branch, GA

  • Three sisters: Brenda Alexander of Columbia, KY; Mary Ann Wilson of Liberty, KY; and Jean Callison of Dry Branch, GA

  • Three grandchildren Joshua Chambers, Jacob Chambers & Wesley Owens

  • One great grandchild: Park Jayce Owens
