Edvert (Ed) Glen Gaskins, Russell Springs, KY (1929-2018)

He was a Dental Technician and a Veteran of US Army. He was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He as the patriarch of a large, respected Russell County, KY, family. He was the son of the late Lilbert & Sarah Gadberry Gaskins and the widower of Pearl McGowan Gaskins. His wife Margaret Gaskins, survives. He leaves 16 direct and three step living descendants.

Edvert "Ed" Glen Gaskins, 88, of Russell Springs, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10amCT, Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Bob McCabe officiating, along with speakers from the Lake Cumberland Area Emmaus Community. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Tuesday, January 9, 2018, and after 8amCT, Wednesday. Interment will be in the Russell Springs City Cemetery, Lakeway Drive, Russell Springs, KY.



Pallbearers: Jacob Loy, Matthew Loy, Greg Miller Joe Grider, Marshall Sample, and Dale Carey.

Edvert "Ed" Glen Gaskins, Russell County, KY (1929-2018)


He was born August 12, 1929 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Lilbert & Sarah Gadberry Gaskins. He died Saturday, January 6, 2018, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 88 years, four months, and 25 days.

He was a Dental Technician and a Veteran of US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl McGowan Gaskins; and a sister, Lucy Gaskins Wilson.

Survivors are:
  • His wife: Margaret Gaskins, Russell Springs, KY

  • Four children: Steve (Mary) Gaskins, Louisville, KY; Kathie Gaskins Andrews, Russell Springs, KY; Michael (Liz) Gaskins, Ft. Worth, TX; and Jeneal (Tim) Loy, Jamestown, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Three great grandchildren

  • One brother: Oscar (Virginia) Gaskins, Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sisters: Eva Gaskins Russell, Russell Springs, KY; and Vonnie Gaskins Shepherd, Bloomington, IN

  • Three step children: Sharon Acree, Russell Springs, KY; Robert Acree, Knoxville, TN; and Kathy (Tony) Tupman, Jamestown, KY
