Mrs. Gwenda Morris Hitch, 67, Taylor County, KY (1950-2018)

Mrs. Hitch was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Crossroads Community Church in Campbellsville. She often enjoyed spending time watching TV with her family after a long day of shopping. She loved her children and grandkids, and held each close to her heart. She was a member of a respected Taylor County, KY family, the daughter of the late Hubert & Vera Devane Morris. Her husband, William Hitch, survives. She leaves 10 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Gwenda (Morris) Hitch, 67, of Campbellsville, KY departed this life on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Taylor Regional Hospital, Campbellsville, after an illness.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Hitch on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 10amCT/11amET, in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. David Hansel and Frank Boils will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery, Hwy 1752, Taylor County, KY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Sunday, January 7, 2018.

Mrs. Gwenda (Morris) Hitch of Campbellsville was born in Highlands County, FL, on June 18, 1950. She was the daughter of the late Hubert & Vera (Devane) Morris. She departed this life on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness. She was 67 years, 6 months, and 18 days of age.

Mrs. Hitch was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Crossroads Community Church in Campbellsville.

Mrs. Hitch often enjoyed spending time watching TV with her family after a long day of shopping; she loved her children and grandkids, and held each close to her heart.

She was the wife of William Hitch, Campbellsville, KY. who survives.

She also leaves to mourn her passing:

  • Three children: Gwendolyn Cox, Judith Walden, and Tracy Hitch, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Nine brothers and sisters: Hubert Morris of Georgia, Claude Morris of Florida, Sybil Herndon of Florida, Billy Morris of Georgia, Audrey Ledbetter of Missouri, John Morris of Florida, Garvis Morris of South Carolina, Patsy James of Campbellsville, KY; and Tommy Morris of Florida,

  • Three grandchildren: Mathew Cox, Christian Cox, and Zach Shearer

  • Four great-grandchildren

  • And a host of other family and close friends

She was also preceded in death by two children, Rhonda Skaggs and Edward Shearer; two sisters, Mary Yates and Judy Maness; and two grandchildren, Darlis Cox and Nicole Skaggs.
