Johnie Lee Hughes, Russell County, KY (1952-2018)

He was a native of Russell County, KY, and was a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the patriarch of a respected family, the son of the late Nye & Mary Lois Wiggington Hughes. His wife, Ann Jean West Hughes, survives. He leaves five direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in Bernard Cemetery, Russell County, KY.

Johnie Lee Hughes, 65, of Russell Springs, died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Russell County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 8, 2018 at 1pmCT in the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY with Bro. Mark Polston officiating. Visitation will be after 10amCT, Monday until time for the funeral service to begin.
Interment in the Bernard Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Willis, Justin Willis, Brent West, Wayne Radford, Jeremy Radford and Scott Polston.

He was born April 23, 1952 in Russell County, KY. He was son the late Nye & Mary Lois Wiggington Hughes. He died Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 65 years, eight months, and 12 days.

In addition to his parents, Johnie was preceded in death by a grandchild, Hannah.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Ann Jean West Hughes, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two children: Jill Sprowles, and Julie Hughes, Russell Springs, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Emily, Aubrey, & Mia Kate

  • Two brothers: Ronnie (Diane) Hughes, Russell Springs, KY; and Lonnie (Cathy) Hughes, Richmond, KY

  • Two sisters: Patty (Bill) Whicker, Casey Co., KY; and Karen (Terry) Burchette, Russell Springs, KY
