Don C. Hale, Sr., 80, Adair County, KY (1937-2018)

Mr. Hale was a member of the Charity Baptist Church and was a retired machine operator for Worthington Industries in Indiana. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, woodworking and playing cards with family. He was a member of a highly regarded South Adair County, KY, family. He was born near Chance, Adair County, KY, and was a resident of Columbia, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Everett & Edna Humes Hale, one of 10 children born to that union, three of whom now survive, as does his wife, Geraldine O'Brien Hale of Columbia, KY. His final resting place will be in Justice, IL.

Don C. Hale Sr., 80 of Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 4:05amCT, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY after an illness.

Funeral service will be Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 7:30pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. David Karnes and Bro. Jim Hagan the officiating clergy. The family requests visiting after 4pmCT, on Thursday at the funeral home.

Visiting on Monday, January 8, 2018 after 10amCT, and funeral services at 1pmCT, on Monday at the Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home,7861 S 88th Avenue, Justice, IL Burial will take place in the Bethania Cemetery, Justice, IL.



Don C. Hale, Sr., 80, Adair County, KY (1937-2018)


He was born December 19, 1937 near Chance, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Everett & Edna Humes Hale. He died Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 80 years, 14 days.

He was preceded in death by a son, Chris Everett Hale in 1986; two brothers, Ron Hale, and Kenny Hale; four sisters: Betty Sue Hale, Bernice Velman, Beatrice Jessee, and Ramona Rogers.

Mr. Hale is survived by his wife: Geraldine O'Brien Hale of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons: Donald Charles Hale Jr. & wife Donna of Valparaiso, IN; and Rick L. Hale & wife Kim M. of Downers Grove, IL

  • One daughter: Melody Ann Brown & husband Jeff of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Everett Hale Jr. and Larry Hale both of Shepherdsville, KY

  • One sister: Brenda Hale of Louisville, KY

  • Ten grandchildren

  • Sixteen great grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And other relatives and friends
