Marshall L. Bunch, 66, Chance, Adair Co., KY (1951-2017)

He was a member of the Union Chapel Church and a dedicated Sunday school teacher for 41 years. He sang with the Spirit Quartet for several years. He was a retired lumber grader for Kentucky Tie and Lumber and J. Downey & Son Lumber. He was a deputy jailer in Adair and Russell County jails. He was also an avid horseman. He was the patriarch of a large, highly regarded South Adair County, KY family. He was the son of the late Joseph Milton & Lilly Mae York Bunch. His wife, Suzzanne Lewis Bunch, survives. He leaves 23 direct living descendants.

Marshall L. Bunch, 66, of the Chance Community in Adair County, KY, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at 8:45amCT, at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY.

The funeral service for Mr. Bunch, with Bro. Rick Shelton officiating, will be Sunday, December 31, 2017 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 9:30amCT, Sunday, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home Burial will be in the Chance community at Hill Cemetery, 100 Harm Shelton Road, Columbia, KY.



Marshall L. Bunch, 66, Chance, Adair Co., KY (1951-2017)


He was born on Monday, May 21, 1951 in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY. He was the son of the late Joseph Milton & Lilly Mae York Bunch. He died Friday, December 29, 2017, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 66 years, seven months, and eight days.

He was preceded by one daughter, Shawnda Tabor, on October 31, 2017.

He was a member of the Union Chapel Church and a dedicated Sunday school teacher for 41 years. He sang with the Spirit Quartet for several years. He was a retired lumber grader for KY Tie and Lumber and J. Downey & Son Lumber. Marshall was a deputy jailer in Adair and Russell County Jails. He was also an avid horseman.

He is survived by his wife, Suzzanne Lewis Bunch of Chance, KY, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Theresa (Ricky) Stotts of Chance, KY; and Sherry (Terry) Phillips of Chance, KY

  • One son: Christopher Bunch of Russell Springs, KY

  • Three brothers: David Bunch of Columbia, KY; Michael (Sandy) Bunch of Russell Springs, KY; and Douglas (Kerry) Bunch, also of Russell Springs, KY

  • One sister: Shirley (Robert) Rebennack of Indianapolis, IN

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Ten great grandchildren

  • His mother-in-law: Clarice Grant Lewis of Chance, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
