Billy Smythe, 82, Columbia, KY native (1935-2017) He was raised in the Columbia Baptist Church. He was a member of one of Adair County's leading families, the son of the late Leighton & Rachel Grissom Smythe. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and an electrician at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a graduate of Columbia High School, a member of the last graduating class, 1953. Billy Smythe, 82, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY, died Friday, December 22, 2017 at 6:50pmET in Louisville. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville, Columbia, KY, with Steve Merideth officiating. Burial will follow in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 11amCT on Wednesday until the time of the funeral. Billy Smythe, 82, Columbia, KY native (1935-2017) He was born April 29, 1935 in Adair County, KY. He was the son the late Leighton & Rachel Grissom Smythe. He died Friday, December 22, 2017, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 82 years, seven months, and 23 days. He was married to Cassie Prentice Smythe, who preceded him in death in 1971, and later married Betty Vibbert Merideth Smythe, who preceded him in death in 1990. He was also preceded in death by two stepchildren, Dan Merideth & Gary Merideth. Billy was raised in the Columbia Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran and an electrician at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Survivors Include:
