Virginia Fraser Janes, Metcalfe Co., KY (1927-2017)

She was a retired school teacher from the Metcalfe County School System and was a member of the Edmonton Baptist Church. She was a member of a prominent Metcalfe County, KY family. She the daughter of the late Carl Bryant & Mary Orlena Bell Fraser, and the widow of Tom B. Janes. She leaves 11 direct living descendants spanning three generations.

Virginia Janes age 90 of Edmonton passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Metcalfe Health Care in Edmonton.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT, Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5pmCT until 8pmCT, Friday, December 22, 2017, and after 9amCT, Saturday at the funeral home.

She was the daughter of the late Carl Bryant & Mary Orlena Bell Fraser. She was born October 14, 1927. She died Thursday, December 21, 2017, in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, at the age of 90 years, two months, and seven days.

She was a retired school teacher from the Metcalfe County School System and was a member of the Edmonton Baptist Church. She is survived by:
  • Two daughters. Kaye & husband Rick Hope of Summer Shade, KY; and Pam Grubbs & husband Gary of Glasgow, KY

  • Two sisters: Cora Fraser and Sue Hood both of Glasgow, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Page Edwards of Summer Shade, KY; Jane (Jeff) Reece of Knob Lick, KY; Kacy Hope of Jacksonville, FL; Kristin Grubbs of Glasgow, KY; and Thomas (Samantha) Grubbs of Louisville, KY

  • Four great grandchildren: Grant Edwards, Jake Edwards, Camryn Reece and Kinsley Reece
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Tom B. Janes and a sister Jeanette Phillips.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Edmonton Baptist church, Metcalfe County Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund of Barnlot Theatre.
