Louise Janes, 91, Sparksville, KY (1926-2017)

She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church, had worked at Osh Kosh in Columbia, and was a homemaker. She a member of a leading south Adair County, KY family was the daughter of the late Jack & Edith Hayes Roach, and the widow of Burley B. Janes. She leaves five direct living descendants.

Louise Janes, 91, of the Sparksville Community in Adair County passed away Wednesday Dec. 20, 2017 at 10:56amCT at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY after an illness.

The funeral service will be Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Russell Janes and Bro. Troy Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery, 3422 Wheeler Hill Road, Sparksville, KY. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017.

She was born on September 14, 1926 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Jack & Edith Hayes Roach. She died Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 91 years, three months, and six days.

She was the widow of Burley B. Janes who preceded her in death on November 8, 1990.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, Clell Roach, Norman Roach, Johnnie Roach & Dorothy Garnes.

She is survived by
  • A daughter: Beverly (Wayne) Harris, of Columbia, KY

  • A half-sister: Janet Roach of Versailles, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Shawn Harris & Shanna Harris

  • One great grandchild: Neila Harris


  • Several nieces and nephews

  • Several of other relatives & friends
She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church, had worked at Osh Kosh in Columbia, and was a homemaker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
