Ovalene Garner, 93, Russell County, KY (1924-2017)

She was a homemaker and a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church. She e was the matriarch of a large, distinguished Russell County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late Edward & Pearl Shearer Antle, and the widow of Cordell Garner. She leaves 13 direct living descendants spanning three generations.

Ovalene Garner, 93, of Jamestown, KY, died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Funeral service for Ovalene Garner will be at 10amCT, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 999 Hwy 1058, Jamestown, KY. with Bro. David Brown, Bro. Roger Garner and Bro. Glen Lafond officiating. Visitation 3pm-8pmCT, Monday, December 19, 2017, at Bernard Funeral Home and after 9amCT, Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in the Dixon Cemetery, Russell County, KY.

She was born October 26, 1924 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Edward & Pearl Shearer Antle. She died Saturday, December 16, 2017, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 93 years, one month, and 20 days.

Ovalene was a homemaker and a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cordell Garner; a sister, Christine Hill.

Survivors:
  • Three children: Carol Antle, Louisville, KY; Brenda (David) Brown, Caneyville, KY; Mickey Garner, Jamestown, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Angela Fugate, Melissa Roush, Dana Cruze, Chris Brown, and Latisha Cordrey

  • Five great grandchildren

  • One brother: Alford Antle, Jamestown, KY
