Frances DeSpain Grimsley, Green County, KY (1929-2017)

She was the daughter of the late Raymond DeSpain and Lear Milby DeSpain and the widow of Earl Grimsley who passed away just last month. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Green County Eastern Star Chapter #232 and was a retired secretary for the former Nally and Gibson Rock Quarry.

Mrs. Frances DeSpain Grimsley of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late Raymond DeSpain and Lear Milby DeSpain, was born on Wednesday, July 31, 1929 in Green County and departed this life on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 88 years, 4 months and 15 days of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Frances DeSpain Grimsley will be conducted at 1pmCT, Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Bennett Cemetery. Bro. Wilburn Bonta and Bro. Matthew Ingram will officiate. Visitation is requested from 4pm-8pmCT, Saturday, December 18, 2017, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Sunday until time of the funeral service.

Mrs. Frances DeSpain Grimsley of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Raymond DeSpain and Lear Milby DeSpain, was born on Wednesday, July 31, 1929 in Green County, KY, and departed this life on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 88 years, 4 months and 15 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a retired secretary for the former Nally and Gibson Rock Quarry and a member of the Green County Eastern Star Chapter #232.

She united in marriage to Earl M. Grimsley on March 3, 1951 who preceded her in death on November 6, 2017.

Survivors include
  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Alice Jean Grimsley Matney and Kenneth Matney of Greensburg, and Ruth Ann "Ruthie" Grimsley Judd and Louis Judd of Green County;

  • A grandson: Daniel Matney and his wife, Shannon of Greensburg;

  • Three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Grimsley was also preceded in death by a grandson: Benjamin Judd; and her step-mother: Marie Penick DeSpain.

Pallbearers: Daniel Matney, Mark Judd, Isaiah Matney.

Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund or the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, which can be made at the funeral home.
