L.E. (Cowboy) Clark, test driver, Corvette plant (d. 8 Dec 2017) - Summer Shade

He was a test driver at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, KY. He was a native of St. John, MO, and a resident of Summer Shade, KY, at the time of his death in Glasgow, KY. He was the patriarch of a great family, numbering 48 direct living descendants, not including great- and great-great grandchildren. He was the son of the late Charles Edward & Nellie Wadkins Clark, and the widower of Mary Lou Patterson Clark. He is also survived by his beloved companion, Bertha Hiser and his honorary daughter, Sydney.

L.E. (Cowboy) Clark, age 78, of Summer Shade, KY, died December 8, 2017 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 1pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with burial to follow in the Union #2 Cemetery. Visitation will be 2pm-8pmCT, Monday, December 11, 2017 and after 7amCT, on Tuesday till time of service.



He was born in St. John, MO, and was a son of the late Charles Edward & Nellie Wadkins Clark.

He was a test driver at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by:
  • Four daughters: Cheryl (Rob) Yankey of Springhill, TN; Kay (Kenneth) Renner of Schuein, IL; Veronica Clark of Tennessee; and Regina Warren of Louisville, KY

  • Eight sons: Rick Hubert of Summer Shade, KY; Mike (Charlotte) Hubert of Glasgow, KY; Donald (Carolyn) Hubert and Ronald Hubert of Walsh IL; Jerry (Zenimar) Hubert of Wentzville, MO; Charles (Dawn) Clark of Springfield, Ohio; Jessie Clark of Louisville, KY; and Ethan (Kristyn) Clark of Glasgow, KY

  • His beloved companion: Bertha Hiser, and honorary daughter, Sydney.

  • Three sisters: Alice Waters of Talladega, AL; Patsy (Willie) Myers; of Gladewater. TX; and Becky (Carlos) Ollison of Waco, TX

  • Thirty four grandchildren

  • Several great and great great grandchildren
In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his wife Mary Lou Patterson Clark; one son Edward Lynn Clark, one daughter Tina Marie Ifland, one grandson Bobby Hubert, brothers and sisters Nokie Linley, Joyce Kelly, Susan Green, Hazel Roach, Shirley Roseman, Marie Williams Paul, Reginald, Carl Clark and Charles Dougherty
