She was a member of Athens Church of Christ, Liberty Church of Christ, Willow Oak Church of Christ, and Labascus Church of Christ. In the past, she enjoyed swimming, volleyball, and horseback riding. LaVerne was an excellent Rook player and an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. She was the daughter of the late Edward & Lyda McGinnis and the widow of Murrell Eucledis Davenport. She leaves three direct living descendants.
