Iva Richerson Hardesty, Taylor County, KY (1927-2017)

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church. She was not only an excellent seamstress and very creative at floral arranging, but she was also great with wood working. Above all else, she was always a loving and caring mother and grandmother.She was born in Taylor County, KY, and was a resident of Jefferson County, KY, at the time of her death there. She was the daughter of the late Truman Richerson & Laura Malone Richerson, and the widow of Maurice Hardesty. She leaves nine direct and three step- living descendants.

Iva Richerson Hardesty, 90 of Louisville, KY, formerly of Campbellsville, died at 1:50pmET, Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service was at 1pmCT/2pmET, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville by Rev. Steve Skaggs. Burial is in Brookside Cemetery, 200 Block W Main Street, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation was 10am-1pmCT/11am-2pmET, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.



Iva Richerson Hardesty, Tayor County, KY (1927-2017)


Iva Richerson Hardesty was the daughter of the late Truman Richerson & Laura Malone Richerson. She was born March 18, 1927 in Taylor County, KY. She died at Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of90 years, eight months, and one day.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church.

Iva was not only an excellent seamstress and very creative at floral arranging, but she was also great with wood working. Above all else, she was always a loving and caring mother and grandmother.

She united in marriage to Maurice Hardesty on October 28, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 25, 2011.

She is survived by:
  • One son and one daughter: Randall Hardesty and wife, Sandra of Bardstown, KY; and Diann Hardesty Johnson of Louisville, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Angela Benningfield Harrison and husband, Bo, Lisa Benningfield Skinner and husband, Jerry and David Hardesty of Louisville, KY; and Randall Gene Hardesty of Bardstown, KY

  • Two great-grandchildren: Austin Dale Harrison and Shelbie Diann Harrison

  • Three step-great-grandchildren: Amber Harrison, Tammy Yaste and William Yaste

  • One great-great-grandson: Justin David Hardesty

  • One brother-in-law: R. C. Hardesty of Louisville, KY
  • Several nieces and nephews

  • and many other relatives and friends
Iva was also preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Jean Hardesty; two brothers and two sisters: Preston "Pete" Richerson, Ralph "Boss" Richerson, Ruby Philpott and Alma Short.
