Ruby Chelf, Egypt Community, Adair Co., KY (1926-2017)

Mrs. Chelf was a member of the Knifley Christian Church and a homemaker. She was the matriarch of a large, distinguished Adair County, KY, family. She was born in the Little Cake Community of Adair County, KY, and was a resident of the Egypt community at the time of her death. She was the widower of Herman Chelf. She leaves 27 direct living descendants, spanning four generations.

Ruby Chelf, 91 a longtime resident of the Egypt Community of Adair County, Kentucky passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at Signature Health & Rehab at Summit Manor in Columbia, KY after several weeks illness.

Funeral service for Ruby Chelf will be Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating will be Bro. Hugh Withers. Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. The family requests visiting after 4:30pmCT, on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

She was born in the Little Cake Community of Adair County, KY on April 13, 1926. She died Friday, November 17, 2017, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 91 years, seven months, and four days.

Mrs. Chelf was a member of the Knifley Christian Church and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Herman Chelf on March 17, 2006; and by two brothers Stanley Cundiff and Ralph "Bill" Cundiff

She is survived by:
  • Three daughters: Sharon (Larry) Bottoms of Russell Springs, KY; Betty Sue (William) Feese of Columbia, KY; and Karen (Mike) Fones of Norris, TN

  • Three brothers: Robert "Bob" Cundiff of North Vernon, IN; Joe Cundiff of Scottsville, KY, and Woody Cundiff of Louisville, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Shane O'Neal Bottoms, Shantila Rexroat, Shannon Campbell, Jacob Feese, Jeremiah Fones, Megan Long, Cory Fones

  • Fifteen great grandchildren

  • Two great great grandchildren
