Garland Hayes, 86, Green County, KY (1931-2017)

Mr. Hayes made a childhood profession of faith in Christ and attended the Light House Baptist Church. He a US Army Korean War veteran, and a lifelong farmer and was a care giver for his wife for many years. He was the son of the late Robert T. & Lena Wilkerson Hayes, and the widower of Allene Sharpe Hayes. He leaves two direct and two step living descendants.

Garland Hayes, 86 of the Ebenezer Road, Greensburg, KY passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 4pmCT, at his home, after several months illness.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Jim Collison and Bro. Don Gowin the officiating clergy. Burial in the Griffin Cemetery on Hwy 565 with full military honors presented by Columbia VFW Post 6097. The family request visiting after 4pmCT, on Friday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Garland Hayes, 86, Green County, KY (1931-2017)


Garland Hayes, was born in the Ebenezer Community of Green County KY on March 18, 1931. He was the son of the late Robert T. & Lena Wilkerson Hayes. He died at his home on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the age of 86 years, seven months He was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Sherman Hayes; and by his wife Allene Sharpe Hayes on August 10, 2004.

Mr. Hayes made a childhood profession of faith in Christ and attended the Light House Baptist Church. He a US Army Korean War veteran, and a lifelong farmer and was a care giver for his wife for many years. He is survived by:
  • One son: Terry Hayes and wife Kim of Campbellsville, KY

  • One granddaughter: Leah Hayes of Greensburg, KY

  • Two step grandsons: Matthew Schmuck of Campbellsville, KY; and Chance Cox of Lexington, KY

  • Other relatives and a host of friends
