Joseph Earl Hendrickson, Indianapolis, IN/Adair Co., KY native (1936-2017)

He was a member of an outstanding Adair County, KY family, born the son of the late William Oscar & Martha Lee Holt Hendrickson of Columbia. His wife of 59 years, Veachel Mae Hendrickson, survives. He leaves seven direct living descendants and four God-daughters. He had retired from Allison Transmissions.

Joseph Earl Hendrickson, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Adair County, KY, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in Indiana.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11pmCT/12pmET at Oasis of Hope Baptist Church, 1701 E 25th Street, Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pmCT/6pm-8pmET on Friday, September 15, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler W Drive, Indianapolis, IN.

He was born June 26, 1936, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, he was the son of the late William Oscar & Martha Lee Holt Hendrickson. He died Wednesday, September 6, 2017, in Indianapolis, Marion County, IN, at the age of 81 years, two months, and 11 days.

Joe worked at L.E. Isley & Sons for 17 years and Allison Transmissions for 28 years where he retired.

Survivors include:
  • His devoted and loving wife of 59 years: Veachel Mae Hendrickson of Indianapolis, IN

  • Three daughters: Brenda Edwards & Linda Hendrickson both of Indianapolis, IN; and Jennifer (Delven) Barfield of Atlanta, GA

  • Three grandchildren: Ashley (Markus) Graves, Michael Edwards and Kayla Barfield

  • One great-grandchild: Alayna Graves

  • Four brothers: Thomas Amos and John R. Hendrickson both of Indianapolis, IN; Walter O. (Sandra) Hendrickson of Louisville, KY; and James A. G. (Emma J.) Hendrickson of Greensburg, KY

  • Four sisters: Mattie F. Hardin of Campbellsville, KY; Sarah E. Jackson of Columbia, KY; Ada L. (Joseph) Duncan of Indianapolis, IN; and Naomi E. (Roy) Embry of Greensburg, KY

  • God-daughters: J. Deneise (Albert) Oliver-Dumas, Sharon (Harold) Jiles & Victoria (George) Thomas

  • A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
