Taylor Countians working to gather water for Hurricane victims

From Bro. John Chowning, Saloma Baptist Church

Efforts are underway to collect bottled water for the Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma impact areas.

Auto Smart, Big Dawg 99.9 FM Radio, Campbellsville University, and Sports Reach Ministry have joined together to help collect donations of bottled water to be sent to the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida. Click below to continue reading the overview of what these four organizations are joining together to do:

Cases of water may be purchased and delivered to Campbellsville University Stapp Lawn or to Auto Smart. Water may be delivered to CU and Auto Smart from September 11-16, 2017, 9amET-6pmET.

If you would like to make a donation to have water purchased, please make the check payable to Sports Reach and take your check to Auto Smart. Donations made to Sports Reach for this purpose are tax deductible and all donations will be used to help support this "Get Water" undertaking.

Some individuals have asked about donating a "pallet" of water. A pallet will cost in the range of $200, according to Bro. Pete Hedgepath. Bro. Pete is contacting various stores in the local community to get their best prices on a pallet of water. If you are not able to deliver the pallet of water, you may contact Bro. Pete at 270-952-7898, and members of the CU Bass Fishing Team will pick up the water and deliver it for the donor.

One trailer load of bottled water has already been donated to Texas through local contacts, and arrangements made for delivery for that load to Houston. The goal is to have several more loads of water donated and split between Texas and Florida impact areas.

This is a great opportunity for our community to come together and show our support and concern for those being hit so hard by Harvey and Irma. We need to remember them in our prayers and thoughts, but this is a very simple, affordable, and practical way for the people of Campbellsville-Taylor County to show their concern and compassion for those in great need and whose lives have been upended.

Please spread the word and get the word out to churches, clubs, schools, work places, and across the community. Should you have any questions, please contact Bro. Hedgepath, Brent Thompson at Big Dawg, Robbie Speer with Sports Reach, or Stan Curry with Auto Smart.
