Christine Jones Shirley, Knob Lick, Metcalfe Co., KY (1926-2017)

She joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age and became secretary. She was the retired owner operator of Shirley's Highlander Laundry and Dry Cleaner. She was a member of a highly regarded North Metcalfe County family. She was the daughter of the late Chester & Lula Clark Jones and the widow of Fred D. Shirley Sr. She leaves 18 direct living descendants.

Christine Jones Shirley, age 90, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Knob Lick, KY, died Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in Cincinnati.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at 11amCT, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 5969 Knob Lick Road, Edmonton, KY. , with Pastor Ronnie Bryant, officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Monday, August 21, 2017, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, and on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church from 10amCT until time of services at 11amCT.



Christine Jones Shirley, Knob Lick, Metcalfe Co., KY (1926-2017)

Born December 13, 1926 in Knob Lick, Metcalfe County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Chester & Lula Clark Jones and the widow of Fred D. Shirley Sr. She died Tuesday, August 15, 2017, in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, at the agge of 90 years, eight months, and two days.

She joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age and became secretary. She was the retired owner operator of Shirley's Highlander laundry and dry cleaner.

Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Nola L. Shirley Taylor and her husband Wendell of Cincinnati, Ohio

  • Three sons: William C. Shirley and wife Marsha, and Troye A Shirley, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Grayling Shirley, Los Angeles, CA

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Seven great grandchildren

  • And a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death, besides her parents and husband, by one son Fred D. Shirley Jr.; one brother Sherman Jones; and one sister Kathleen Jones Stockton.
