Katie Beatrice Cheatham Duvall, Adair Co., KY (1927-2017)

She was one of Adair County's most respected women, a beloved citizen of the Gadberry-Fairplay Community. She is remembered for her Christian ways, her poise, and unforgettable warmth and smile. She was the daughter of the late Leslie & Annie Bomar Cheatham and the widow of the late Paul Duvall. She leaves three direct living descendants. She leaves She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, Secretary, Missionary President and Writer for the Church. As a Zion District worker, she served as Treasurer and Board Member. She retired from Fruit of the Loom.

Katie Beatrice Cheatham Duvall, 90, of Columbia, KY, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at 7:15pmCT, at the home of her daughter.

Funeral service will be Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, with Rev. William Curle delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery, Fairplay, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Thursday, July 27, 2017.

She was born February 4, 1927, in Adair County, KY. She was daughter of the late Leslie & Annie Bomar Cheatham. She died Monday, July 24, 2017, at the age of 90 years, five months, and 20 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Paul Duvall on March 8, 1993; three brothers, William, Hazard and Colbert Cheatham and one sister; Inishia Cheatham Ingram.

She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, Secretary, Missionary President and Writer for the Church. As a Zion District worker, she served as Treasurer and Board Member. She retired from Fruit of the Loom.

Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Juanita Faye Duvall of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Philip M. Duvall of Indianapolis, IN

  • One grandson: Jason P. Duvall of Indianapolis, IN

  • One brother: Wilburn Cheatham of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sisters-in-law: Nina Cheatham of Campbellsville, KY; and Lillie Duvall of Columbia, KY

  • One brother-in-law: Harry Ingram, Columbia, KY

  • Several other relatives and friends
