He was a greatly admired Green County citizen. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summer Shade United Methodist Church. He was a Game Warden and retired from TGT.

Mr. Volen Layton McMahan, 82, departed this life Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his home in Green County, KY.

The funeral service will be at 1pmCT, Friday, July 14, 2017, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY, with Rev. William Davenport and Rev. Travis Keltner, officiating. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Thursday, July 13, 2017. There will be a Masonic Service conducted at 6:30pmCT, Thursday by the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F & AM. All Master Masons are requested to be at the Lodge at 5:30pmCT, Thursday, Interment will be in Coffey Cemetery, Green County, KY.

Volen McMahan, Green County, KY (1934-2017)

Mr. Volen Layton McMahan was born October 4, 1934 in Green County, KY He was the son of the late Wilma McMahan Judd. He departed this life Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his home in Green County, KY, at the the age of 82 years, nine months and seven days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summer Shade United Methodist Church. He was a Game Warden and retired from TGT.

Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elfriede Wenz McMahan; two brothers: J.L. and Kendrell Walker; one sister: Demetrice Phillips and one nephew: Jackie Giles.

He is survived by:
  • One sister: Fidelia Foster of Ramsey, IN

  • One sister-in-law: Shirley Neagle of Campbellsville, KY

  • Special friend: Betty Hall of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four nephews: Kenny and Terry Giles and Jeff and Eddie Walker

  • Six nieces: Bonnie Duncan, Nancy McDaniels, Karen, Teresa, Diane and Marsha Linde,

  • Several great nieces and nephews

  • Plus a host of other relatives and friends

The family has requested expressions of sympathy to be donations to the Coffey Cemetery Fund. These can be made at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg.
