Doris Fudge, Adair County, KY/Cook Co., IL native (1929-2017)

Mrs. Fudge was a member of the Chestnut Grove Christian Church and faithfully attended the Harrods Fork Baptist Church. She was employed for many years at Adair Memorial Hospital and Westlake Regional Hospital in the housekeeping department. She was the matriarch of a distinguished Adair County family in whom she instilled old fashioned Christian principles of service for others, hard work, and honest dealings. She was the daughter of the late Eugene & Birchie Harvey England, and the widow of Felton Fudge, her husband of 60 years. He leaves 12 direct living descendants.

Doris Fudge, 88 years of the Sparksville Community of Adair County, KY passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 10:08pmCT, at TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow, KY after several months illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Dr. Ted Taylor the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Harrods Fork Cemetery, 169 Harrods Fork Circle, Columbia, KY. The family requests visitation after 4pmCT, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

She was born in Summit, Cook County, IL, Wednesday, January 23, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Eugene & Birchie Harvey England of Adair County, KY. She died Sunday, July 9, 2017, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 88 years, five months, and 16 days.

Mrs. Fudge was preceded in death by her husband Felton Fudge on August 13, 2014 and by two brothers: Hyman England and Neal England.

She is survived by
  • One son: Mark Fudge & wife Denise of Columbia, KY

  • Three daughters: Linda Walker & husband Jerry of Edmonton, KY; Brenda Huckaby & husband Rick of Columbia, KY; and Diana Eastham & husband Greg of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Clurell England and wife Tillie of Hudgins, KY

  • One sister in law: Bonnie England of Louisville, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Nick Fudge, Matt Fudge, Julie Walker, Laura Nagode, Ricky Huckaby, and Jesse Huckaby

  • Two great grandchildren: Jackson Huckaby & Madison Grant
