She was a member of a highly regarded Eastern Adair County, KY family. She was the daughter of the late Ollie & Martha Bolin Kerr, and the widow of Roy Cook. She leaves 25 direct living descendants.

Doris Cook, 79 years of Allen School House Road, Columbia, KY passed away Sunday June 11, 2017 at 9:06pmCT, at her home, after several weeks illness.

Funeral service, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 10amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Bro. Eugene Sneed and Bro. Shane Gaskins will be the officiating clergy. Interment in Adair County, at the Freedom Cemetery by Freedom Separate Baptist Church, 576 Freedom Church Road, Russell Springs, KY. The family will receive friends after 4:30pmCT, on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

She was born in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY on January 9, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Ollie & Martha Bolin Kerr. She died Sunday, June 11, 20-17, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 79 years, five months, and two days.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband Roy Cook on September 15, 2003; a son Garry Cook on August 30, 2004; and by a sister Maxine Burton

She is survived by:
  • Two daughters: Faye Cook of Columbia, KY; and Adalene Cochran of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Ronald Cook and wife Linda of Columbia, KY

  • Seven grandsons: David Cook, Marty Cundiff, Chris Cundiff, Kevin Cundiff, Terry Harmon, Ben Harmon, and Jeremy Cape

  • Fifteen great grandchildren

  • Four brothers: Charles Kerr of Louisville, KY; Carlie Kerr of Russell Springs, KY; Bobby Kerr of Russell Springs, KY; and and Otis Kerr of Lanesville, IN

  • One sister: Bonnie Stephens of Russell Springs, KY

  • One half brother: Jeff Kerr of Russell Springs, KY

  • And one half sister: Ruth Ann Hoover of Russell Springs, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • and a host of friends
Mrs. Cook attended the Faith Temple Church in Russell Springs, KY and was a homemaker
