Raymond M. Broussard, Jr., Taylor Co., KY/Calcasieu Parish, LA (1950-2017)

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Broussard had a love for outdoor activities such as tennis, golf, and gardening. He was also a numbers genius; he held a masters in mathematics. When it came to history, he was remarkable. He absorbed information and relayed it at every chance. He served his country honorably in Vietnam (First Calvary Division- 4th Infantry Army) and was a true American hero. His wife, Michelle Broussard, Campbellsville, KY, survives. He leaves eight direct living descendants.

Raymond Melvin Broussard, Jr., 67, of Campbellsville, KY, departed this life on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the VA hospital in Lexington, KY.

There will be a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Broussard on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 5pmCT/6pmET, in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Father Bill Bowling will be officiating. Mr. Broussard will be laid to rest in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 13, after 4pmCT/5pmET, until time for the service.

Raymond Melvin Broussard, Jr. of Campbellsville, KY, was born on February 17, 1950, in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, LA. He was the son of Legenia Lambert Buillory and the late Raymond Melvin Broussard, Sr. He departed this life on Friday, June 9, 2017 in Lexington, Fayette County, KY. He was 67 years, three months, and 23 days of age.

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Broussard had a love for outdoor activities such as tennis, golf, and gardening. He was also a numbers genius; he held a masters in mathematics. When it came to history, he was remarkable. He absorbed information and relayed it at every chance. He served his country honorably in Vietnam (First Calvary Division- 4th Infantry Army) and was a true American hero.

He leaves to mourn his passing:
  • His wife: Michelle Broussard of Campbellsville, KY

  • His mother: Legenia Lambert of Nevada

  • Five children: Aaron Broussard, and Andy Broussard, both of Nebraska; Sam Broussard and Olivia Broussard of Louisville, KY; and John Smith of Richmond, KY

  • One brother: Michael Broussard of California

  • Three grandchildren: Hannah, Lucy, and Keenon

  • And a host of extended family and close friends
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Mark Broussard.
