Mrs. Lois Thelma Paxton, 93, Green Co., KY/Adair Co., KY native (1923-2017)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and later SBN Media. Mrs. Paxton was a graduate of Campbellsville College and was a school teacher for 38 years in Green County where she was an inspiration to many of her students. She loved to read and her Bible was always open. She prayed continually for her family and others. She was also an advocate for the Humane Society and ethical treatment of animals. Mrs. Paxton was a wonderful loving, kind and generous soul.

Mrs. Lois Thelma Lowe Paxton, 93, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at her home.

The funeral services for Mrs. Lois Thelma Paxton will be conducted at 1pmCT, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Bethlehem Cemetery, 525 Temperance Road, Greensburg, KY. Dr. Gary Ervin will officiate. Visitation is requested after 9amCT, Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, until time of the funeral service.

Mrs. Lois Thelma Lowe Paxton, 93, Green Co., KY/Adair Co., KY native (1923-2017)

Mrs. Lois Thelma Paxton of Greensburg, Green County, KY, daughter of the late William Thomas Lowe and Viola Ann Dudley Lowe, was born on May 27, 1923 in Adair County, KY and departed this life on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at her home. She was 93 years, 10 months, and 24 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and later SBN Media. Mrs. Paxton was a graduate of Campbellsville College and was a school teacher for 38 years in Green County where she was an inspiration to many of her students. She loved to read and her Bible was always open. She prayed continually for her family and others. She was also an advocate for the Humane Society and ethical treatment of animals. Mrs. Paxton was a wonderful loving, kind and generous soul.

She united in marriage to Leon Paxton on October 6, 1945 who preceded her in death on February 3, 2000.

Survivors include:
  • A daughter: Susan Lee Paxton of Greensburg, KY

  • Two sisters-in-law: Ada Mae Wilcoxson and Suzanne Paxton both of Greensburg, KY

  • Special nieces: Patricia Handy and Nancy Sidebottom both of Greensburg; KY

  • Niece: Elaine Lowe of Louisville, KY

  • Special friends and caregivers: Deborah Hoagland Duff and Treva Sullivan both of Greensburg, KY

  • Great-nieces and great-nephews: Debbie and Phillip Nunn, Tommy and Randie Judd all of Greensburg, KY; Spencer and Rebecca Sidebottom of Campbellsville, KY

  • Great-great-nieces and nephews: Cody Nunn of Greensburg, KY; Callie and Jeff Garner of Clarksville, KY; Britney Judd, Phillip Thomas Judd both of Greensburg, KY; Zoe Sidebottom, Jaxon Sideboottom, and Brodie Sidebottom all of Campbellsville, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends

  • Mrs. Paxton was also preceded in death by a sister and three brothers: Flossie Lowe Beard, George Halmond Lowe, Eules Lowe, and Eddie Lowe.

    Memorials are requested to be made to the Gideon Bible Fund or the local Humane Society, which can be made at the funeral home.
