Mrs. Mae Bagby Risen, Greensburg, KY (1924-2017)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was also retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. having worked in the finishing department. She was a native of Green County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late James Claude Bagby & Fannie Annie Ellen Bass Bagby and the widow of Olon Porter Risen, her husband of 64 years.

Mrs. Mae Bagby Risen, 92, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, in Greensburg.

The funeral services for Mrs. Mae Bagby Risen will be conducted at 1pmCT, Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Bro. Josh Miller officiating. Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7pmCT, Friday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Bendal Bagby, Marty Bagby, Sean Alamo, Dylan Blakeman, Joe Riley, Elvis Posey.

Honorary pallbearers: Jerry Bagby, Wendell Sullivan, Mike Bagby

Mrs. Mae Bagby Risen of Greensburg, Green County, KY, daughter of the late James Claude Bagby & Fannie Annie Ellen Bass Bagby, was born on May 14, 1924 in Green County and departed this life on Monday, April 17, 2017 in Greensburg, Green County, KY. She was 92 years, 11 months, and three days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was also retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. having worked in the finishing department.

She united in marriage to Olon Porter Risen on December 30, 1939 who preceded her in death on June 4, 2005.

Survivors include:
  • Five nephews, two nieces and their spouses: Jerry and Debbie Bagby, Wendell and Trevor Sullivan all of Greensburg, KY; Opal Gibson of Cave City, KY; Michael and Barbara Bagby of Florida; Bendal and Debbie Bagby, Marty Bagby all of Greensburg, KY; and Donna Sue Ramsey of Louisville, KY

  • A special friend: Bill Conover of Columbia, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Risen was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Eulus Bagby, Maymee McKinney, Bertha Newton, Blanch Sullivan, Ruth Pruitt, Maple Bagby, Lallie Doc Bagby, Shiner Bagby, Homer Bagby, Ora Bagby, and Elmo Bagby; nieces and nephews: Rickey Bagby, Gleason Sullivan, Marie Paxton, and Dorothy Parson.
